HISTORY

Rosspoint uses a logo of the Sunbeam shipwreck that lies partially submerged on the beach at Rossbeigh for over one hundred years.

A seventy four ton English schooner built in the 1860’s and owned by Richard Kearon of Arklow was used to deliver cargo around Ireland.

The ‘Sunbeam’ was sailing in ballast from Kinvara to Cork when she met her end.

Caught in a gale, she ran aground on Rossbeigh beach on January 28th 1903. Fortunately, there was no loss of life.
